Fitting nicely into Puerto Vallarta's blossoming cultural scene is the small but surprisingly engaging Museo Arqueológico del Cuale (Cuale Archaeological Museum), located on the small island in the river that runs through Puerto Vallarta.
While consisting of just a couple of galleries, the museum offers a glimpse into the Pre-Hispanic cultures that once inhabited the area. Exhibits are arranged chronologically and cover the trajectory of the area's earliest history. Along with the permament collection featuring Pre-Hispanic pottery, artifacts and even tombs, the museum welcomes a variety of temporary art exhibitions.
